My story

Meet Cookie Sweet, charming, and as irresistible as her namesake, Cookie is a 6-year-old Shih Tzu with a heart full of love and a zest for life. Despite her grade 5 heart murmur, she's the picture of health and happiness. A Heart of Gold: Cookie's heart may have a murmur, but it's also filled with boundless affection. She's a loving companion who thrives on cuddles, snuggles, and making her humans feel cherished. If you need a furry friend to warm your heart, Cookie is the one. Forever Young at Heart: Age is just a number for Cookie. At 6 years old, she's the perfect blend of playful and mature. She's got plenty of energy for daily walks and playtime but also knows when it's time to relax and enjoy some quiet moments with her family. Healthy and Happy: Don't let the heart murmur fool you-Cookie is a healthy and happy pup. She's been under the care of her dedicated veterinarian, who confirms she's living her best life. Cookie's medical condition doesn't slow her down one bit. She does take medication and is very good about it. Ideal Family Member: Cookie is fantastic with people of all ages, making her an ideal family pet. Whether you're a family with older kids or an individual looking for a loyal companion, Cookie's adaptable and loving nature will make her an invaluable addition to your home. Cookie is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Cookie's adoption fee is $325 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue! Please understand that sometimes we get numerous applications for specific dogs and as a volunteer-based rescue, we do not always have the time to respond to each one. We do our best to choose the most suitable home for each dog based on their specific personality and needs. Please note you MAY NOT be contacted for up to 10 days to schedule a meet and greet if your family is the most suitable for this rescue dog. Regrettably, we do not have the manpower currently to contact all applicants. We keep ALL applications in our database so please feel free to contact us when you see another dog of interest. We appreciate all applicants and do our best to pair ever dog and family for a successful and happy life.
