My story

When Cleveland came to us he was a down on his luck stray. We don't know much about his past but judging by the condition he came into rescue I believe it is fair so say he wasn't a pampered pooch. Shortly after his arrival he ended up with Kennel Cough and another secondary infection. Coaxing him to eat so that he could stay up on his antibiotics was challenging. He was a worry that first few days. Thankfully something clicked and he did a turn around. As his appetite improved so did his outlook. To meet him now, you would never know it; he is such a happy guy. When he sees his food bowl coming he spins with delight. And no one loves a treat more than Cleveland. Since his recovery, he has been fully vetted and along with a clean bill of health he had a dental too. He is ready to brighten your day and offer you unconditional love. Cleveland is a Shih tzu i’m currently weighs 18 pounds but would be ideal at a weight of 12 to 13. I guess we pampered him a little too much after he was so sick and thin. Now he is healthy as a horse and so is his appetite! We will advise any potential Adapter on the best way to get him to lose some weight. Like many of our rescue dogs, we are not sure how well house trained Cleveland is. But with gentle persuasion, some consistency, structure and praise he should be easy to train. Cleveland is a coated dog (hair grows continuously) and will need professional grooming every 6-8 weeks. Cleveland's adoption fee is $450 This fee includes at least one health exam at our veterinarian while in our care, altering, all vaccinations including rabies (as permitted by age), a pre-adoption professional grooming and a microchip with lifetime membership that never will cost you a fee. All dogs also leave with a new collar and or harness and leash as well as a gift bag which includes among other things, a starter bag of the quality kibble that is being fed at the rescue. Adoption fees also allow us the ability to put funds towards the next homeless or unwanted dog in need of rescue!
